How to Use the Shopping Cart System

It's Easy!  You can order anything from the Resource Center right here on line.  Every catalog entry, index entry, and book item description has a button that looks like this => .

When you press this button, we place one copy of the item in your virtual "shopping cart" and then display all the contents of your cart to you.  From there, you can modify the number of items, delete items, or empty your whole basket and start over if you want.  Accumulate as many items as you wish in your shopping cart.  You'll be able to see the subtotal of your order and estimated shipping charges, international shipping ,and different levels of priority.  To see what's in your cart at any time, or when you want to check out, press one of the "show basket" buttons that look like this => .

Checking out is easy, too.  You'll be presented a form for filling out your name and address information and preferred payment options.  Our payment system is safe, but if using a credit card on the Internet still gives you the jitters, you can always choose to have us call you for your credit card number.  Don't forget to choose your preferred shipping method - point and click on the radio button next to the shipping method you want.

Using the shopping cart doesn't mean you have purchased or ordered anything.  Your order is not placed until you decide to "check out", and then, only after you again "confirm" your order. By the way, our librarian is the first person to see all orders.  If you make a mistake, just send her an email message - she can fix  your order, delete it, whatever you wish!

Here are some important tips to remember:

• If you want to update quantities or delete items from you shopping basket, wait until the form has fully loaded before you proceed.
• Don't forget to select a shipping option if you need something other than standard US service.
• If you're browsing around the Resource Center, feel free to put things in your basket, even if you're not ready to order.  The next time you visit our site, chances are we will have kept your basket for you - that's right, your selected items will still be in your basket!  So take all the time you need.
